Geoff Hyland is the principal of the firm and was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in 1972. He has practised continuously as a principal since 1973. Geoff has over 40 years’ hands-on experience in property law, wills and estates, business law and dispute resolution and has conducted trials and appeals in all state jurisdictions. His depth of knowledge provides a significant advantage in understanding a client’s objectives.
Karen is a special counsel for the firm and joined Hyland Law in June 2014 after recently returning from London where she worked for some 6 years. During her time there, Karen was first appointed as a solicitor with PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal LLP in London. Part of PwC Legal’s Corporate team and was involved in a number of corporate matters, including corporate restructurings and due diligence projects for private M&A transactions, before moving to the Financial Services group.
Vicki is a senior associate of the firm who was admitted in Queensland in 2013. She gives personal attention to her clients and aims to provide effective outcomes to her clients with minimum fuss. Vicki has extensive experience in property law including but not limited to residential and commercial property transactions, business sales and purchases and leasing disputes. Vicki also handles estate administration and is heavily involved in litigation matters. Fluent in Cantonese, she adds a cultural depth to the team.
Jacky practices property law with a particular focus in conveyancing, wills and general commercial property matters. Jacky comes from a long line of property professionals and enjoys the challenges and diversity of practicing property law. Prior to joining the team in 2014 Jacky worked in the family business of building certification. Property is her passion. Away from the office Jacky enjoys boating, camping and water sports From January 2020, Jacky is on maternity leave.
